GURGAON: A mob of more than 30 people allegedly forcibly entered the home of a local politician and attacked his family in Hari Nagar colony, Sector 10A on Monday night, police said. Following a complaint by the politician, Billu Yadav, a case was registered against three accused — Ajay Yadav, Abhishek and Mukul — under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (rioting with weapons), 323 (voluntarily causing harm), 452 (trespassing), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC at Sector 37 police station on Tuesday.
In his complaint, Yadav alleged that a verbal spat broke out between his son and the three accused, which led to the mob attacking his family. Police said they are currently investigating the exact reason behind the attack.
According to Yadav, his son returned home around 9:30pm on Monday to inform him that he had gotten into a spat with the three accused. Soon after, Yadav alleged, a mob of around 35-40 people forcibly entered his house and attacked him and his family with sticks. Yadav reported that he, his son and his nephew all received injuries in the attack.
Billu Yadav told TOI that he is acquainted with the main accused, Ajay, and claimed that the attack was fuelled by political rivalry. He also claimed that the accused threatened to kill him. Police said that the investigation into the case is on-going and that they are identifying others involved in the mob attack through footage from nearby CCTV cameras.
