AMBALA: Amid the ongoing controversy in the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HGSMC) ad-hoc, the Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh has imposed prohibition on holding its administrative meetings on Friday.
Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh condemned the incident of abuses hurled in the executive meeting of the HSGMC at Gurdwara Panjokhra Sahib in Ambala on August 14. The members of HSGMC, including its general secretary had hurled abuses at each other in the meeting, the video of which went viral on the social media hurting sentiments of the community.
Giani Raghbir Singh said that this incident hurt the sentiments of Sikhs across the world and a large number of community members raised written and telephonic complaints at Akal Takht Sahib. He said that HSGMC president Mahant Karamjit Singh, general secretary Gurvinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, Gurbakhsh Singh and other members have sent their written complaints.
“After serious discussion, the HSGMC members are instructed that until this matter is under consideration at Akal Takht Sahib, the administrative meetings of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee are prohibited apart from the routine work. All the members and office-bearers of HSGMC are instructed that they should not level any allegations against each other through newspapers and social media platforms,” said Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh.
He said that soon Akal Takht will form a sub-committee in this matter, which will conduct investigation of the entire case and submit its report. He said the final decision will be made after discussing the report in a meeting of five high priests.
Meanwhile, the secretariat of Akal Takht has written to the HSGMC president regarding this issue that they should not conduct any administrative meeting of the HSGMC.
On Thursday, a delegation of HSGMC filed a written complaint at Secretariat, Akal Takht against HSGMC members Baljit Singh Daduwal and Gurvinder Singh Dhamija, alleging that they abused inside Gurdwara premises and tried to transport 25 holy saroops (scriptures) of Guru Granth Sahib without any demand and permission of executive committee.
