GURGAON: A 13-year-old domestic help was reportedly subjected to severe abuse, including physical assault, dog bites, and forced nudity by the family employing her in the Sector 57 area, said police on Saturday.
According to the girl’s mother’s complaint, the lady of the house, aided by her two sons, would allegedly beat the girl with an iron rod and a hammer.Additionally, the family is accused of making her strip, recording videos of her naked, and engaging in inappropriate touching.
The girl, allegedly held captive in a room with her mouth taped shut, was rescued by her mother and another employer on Saturday.
The complainant stated that her daughter was given food only once in 48 hours and had her mouth taped to prevent her from seeking help. The family reportedly used acid on their hands and issued threats to silence her.
The victim’s mother, a Bihar native, had secured the job for her daughter at the house of Shashi Sharma in Sector 57. She mentioned that her daughter was promised accommodation and a monthly salary of Rs 9,000. However, she was only paid for the first two months.
The mother attempted to meet her daughter multiple times but was denied access. She finally filed a complaint with the help of another employer who accompanied her to the house, leading to the girl’s rescue.
As a result of the complaint, Shashi Sharma and her two sons have been booked under various charges, including cruelty to animals, causing hurt, outraging modesty of women, and criminal intimidation. They are also facing charges under Section 10 of the POCSO Act and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, according to the police.
