At present, MDA hires consultants to prepare estimates for the proposed project with detailed architectural drawings, specifications, feasibility, site survey, including traffic assessment and pedestrian counts, etc for any infrastructure development work in the city. The tendering process from bidding to allotment of work for DPR preparation usually takes 2-3 months for an individual project.
According to officials, this decision was taken to do away with the process of tendering to hire consultants for detailed project reports for every time they plan to execute infrastructure development work. These consultants will be empanelled for a period of three years.
“We have decided to have an integrated approach for the preparation of DPRs for future development projects in the city. For which, we will be creating a panel of world-class consulting firms having vast experience in urban road infrastructure planning and its design. They will be readily available for any road development work which we would like to execute, which will save time and resources,” a GMDA official said.
“We have already floated a tender for the same and the opening date is August 25. The number of agencies will be finalised once the process is completed,” the official added.
