The first ever screening committee has asked academic staff and principals to submit the applications for consideration by August 27, after which they will meet to establish applicants’ eligibility.
Promotions will be provided under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), the guidelines of which were revised last year. They will come into effect from the new academic session this year. Earlier, promotions could only be recommended by experts under CAS.
“All the principals have been instructed to ensure that no deserving assistant or associate professor is left out of the opportunity to get a promotion under the scheme. They should ensure that every pending case is sent to the DHE by the deadline,” a senior official said.
The lnternal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has already been established in all colleges, as per the NAAC guidelines with the principal as the chairperson. According to the official, the body acts as a record-keeping cell for the institution, including assistance in the development of assessment criteria and methodology proforma.
“The decision of including the student feedback is up to the cell that is headed by the principal. Students’ feedback for individual teachers is being incorporated without revealing their identities,” he added.
An assistant professor from a college in Sector 14 told TOI, “We were asked to submit our annual self-appraisal report, in a first, and submitted them within one month after the end of academic year through the head of the department or teacher-in-charge along with documentary evidences for the claims made in the report.” The reports have to be verified by the college, before sending them forward to the department of higher education.
