GURGAON: A man wanted for murder and kidnapping and carrying a Rs 25,000 reward on his arrest was among three persons nabbed on Tuesday in connection with the July 31 communal clash in Nuh.

Nuh riots

Wasim, who has criminal cases lodged against him in not just Nuh but Palwal as well, was picked up from Hathin Road in Tauru following a tip-off on Tuesday morning. Amir, who was accused of snatching guns from cops and firing a few rounds from them on the day of the violence, was also nabbed after an exchange of fire from an abandoned house in the Aravalis. Alizan, a resident of Firozpur Jhirka, was arrested from Punhana for his role in the clash.
The three, police said, were nabbed in different operations a few hours apart. Eight teams formed by the police in Nuh have been carrying out raids in different villages to nab those involved in the July 31 violence. Three SITs headed by DSPs are also carrying out a parallel investigation. So far, 280 people have been arrested and 61 FIRs registered in connection with the clash.
On Tuesday morning, the cops received a tip-off that Wasim would pass through Hathin Road. A crime unit team led by inspector Amit Kumar arrested Wasim while he was waiting for a vehicle to escape to another district. A country-made pistol loaded with a bullet was found with him.
In 2015, the police said, a kidnapping case was lodged against Wasim in Palwal. Two years later, he was booked for murder in Tauru. Besides, he is named in at least 100 FIRs related to thefts across Delhi-NCR. A fresh case under the Arms Act was registered against him on Tuesday.
Amir, who allegedly snatched guns from the police on July 31 and distributed them among his associates, was arrested from Adbar Chowk in Nuh. He had been trying to evade arrest for the past three weeks, the cops said.
On Tuesday, a police team received information that Amir was hiding in Silokha village on the foothills of the Aravalis. When the cops reached the village, they spotted a two-wheeler near an abandoned building.
As the cops went inside, Amir allegedly fired at them. He was hit in the right leg when the cops retaliated. He is now undergoing treatment at a hospital.
A fresh case of attempt to murder was lodged against Amir after he allegedly fired at the cops. He had a gun and five bullets with him, the police said.
In another operation in the afternoon, a team led by Sandeep Mor, in-charge of the crime unit of Punhana, arrested Alizan and recovered a rifle from him. A new case under provisions of the Arms Act was lodged against Alizan, who allegedly hurled stones at the procession on July 31.
Apart from these three, villagers in Singar handed over five youths — Zuber, Salman, Ansar, Rafiq and Abu Bakar — to cops at Bichhor police station on Sunday evening. They claimed before the police that these five had instigated a crowd to attack the procession in Nuh three weeks ago.
