What is the schedule for CAT 2020?

The notification of CAT 2020 exam was released on July 29 along with the exam schedule. The CAT exam, the most popular MBA entrance exam in India, is rotationally conducted by one of the IIMs every year. The scores of this exam can be a gateway for students to the IIMs and more than 1,200 other B-Schools in India. 

According to the latest notification, IIM Indore will conduct CAT 2020 on November 29 across 156 cities in India. Registration for CAT 2020, which started on August 5, will end on September 16. Once the exam is conducted, CAT 2020 results will be released in the second week of January 2021. Following the announcement of the result, IIMs will start shortlisting candidates for admission. So far, there are no signs of shift in schedule due to Covid-19. 

  • In addition to the IIMs, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Technology Institute (IIT) and other famous management colleges across the country also use CAT scores to admit students to management courses.

CAT 2020 Application Process

CAT 2020 registration is an online process in which candidates are required to fill an online application form and pay the fee necessary to register for the test. The CAT 2020 application form is available on the IIM CAT website. Here’s a step-by-step guide for the CAT 2020 registration:

  • Open iimcat.ac.in in a window on CAT 2020 website 
  • Click on ‘New Registration’ tab
  • Enter personal information such as name, ethnicity, birth date, mobile phone number and email ID 
  • An OTP is sent to you via email ID and SMS 
  • Use the OTP to authenticate your phone number and email ID, and obey the instructions 
  • Upload the signature and image scanned in the specified dimension and pay the fee to complete the CAT registration process

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate may apply for the exam as per CAT 2020 eligibility criteria. Last year undergraduate students can also apply, but at the time of therapy they must produce passing certificates. 
  • CAT 2020 application fee has been raised this year. General/ OBC candidates have to pay Rs 2,000 while aspirants of SC/ ST/ PWD/ EWS categories have to pay Rs 1,000. 
  • CAT 2020 will be conducted in two shifts, morning and afternoon, at more than 376 exam centres in 156 countries. In addition, official mock tests will also be published before the actual examination date by the authorities to give the applicants a clear idea about the CAT exam pattern.
  • During CAT 2020, aspirants will be tested for their quantitative, verbal / reading, data analysis and thinking skills. The exam will have a total of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) & non-MCQ questions. Students will be given a sectional time limit of 60 minutes each to attempt the 3-hour-long exam. 
  • Considering Coronavirus outbreak and lockdown across the country, online training and resources will be provided to the candidates to help them prepare well for the exam. 

CAT 2020 Admit Card

Only approved candidates will be issued CAT 2020 admit card. The admit cards will be distributed online and downloadable from the official website. Candidates will be able to download their CAT 2020 admit card from the date scheduled to the day of the exam.

How to download CAT 2020 admit card: 

  • Open CAT 2020 official website 
  • Click on the ‘Login’ button 
  • Go to the ‘Card’ tab 
  • To save a copy of your CAT admit card, click on the download button

CAT admit card is a necessary paper to be carried to the examination hall. Candidates must ensure they bring two copies of CAT 2020 admit card and a photo ID card provided by the Government of India to the CAT 2020 exam center. 

The candidates also have to remember that the digital copy of the admit card or photocopy is not suitable so they have to download their admit cards on A4 size paper and print their picture on it.
